This case study highlights how clinical metagenomics uncovered a hidden Bartonella henselae infection in a patient with long COVID symptoms. A 26-year-old woman, experiencing prolonged post-COVID symptoms, including axillary adenopathy, was diagnosed with bartonellosis after a biopsy revealed B. henselae DNA and RNA. Treatment with clarithromycin led to symptom improvement. The case emphasizes the importance of thorough investigation for hidden infections in long COVID, especially when encountering polyadenopathy, regardless of exposure to cats or fleas.

January 8, 2025Unfortunately, I know bartonella infection quite well due to my daughter’s chronic neurological bartonella Lyme Babesa infections.
The worst problem is that Dr.s do not even have nay knowledge of this, nor do they even look for it, never mind Boreelia……It’s a lonely, scary world when the medical community ignores, betrays and neglects your sick child. It’s criminal neglect.
In my opinion, one antibiotic will not eradicate bartonella…….We tried with several different combos for 9 years of constant treatment.
Wheat finallly worked was a triple combo of Rigfabutin Doxy and Azithromycin. My daughter is now clear of all Tickborned Diseases, but it took a decade of her life. This kind of medical torture is entirely and unnecessary and I will never forgive the many ifnorant MD’s who betrayed us.
It forces the sick to go underground grasping for answers to help their loved ones. It is implicitly evil.
As a registered nurse, I am horrified by the medical ignorance of this endemic. We are assisting people in other countries with infections and we are not even helping our own country.
