Louisiana PANS PANDAS Action

LPPA logoThe Louisiana PANS PANDAS Action Committee (LPPA) is a newly formed group that is leading the charge for legislative change in the state to support those affected by PANS and PANDAS. We advocate for policies that include mandated insurance coverage to enable timely and appropriate care for children, families, and adults impacted by these neuroimmune disorders. By championing legislative solutions, LPPA aims to remove barriers to treatment and ensure that no one in Louisiana is left without access to the care they need. Together, we are working to create a future where effective, insurance-based care is a reality for all.

Please stay tuned for meeting dates and Call to Action items. If you have questions, please contact LPPA’s lead, Caitlyn Guiffreda.

Awareness Day 2024

Louisiana participated with ASPIRE in the World LightUp4PANS awareness campaign. On October 9, World PANS PANDAS Awareness Day, 14 advocacy organizations, including ASPIRE, lit up over 195 landmarks in red or green. This collaboration unites organizations and individuals to raise awareness by highlighting PANS/PANDAS, supporting those affected, and driving impactful change.

LPPA’s Lead Volunteer was pivotal in having Governor Jeff Landry light up the Governor’s Mansion!

Gillian Guiffreda of Louisiana was diagnosed with PANS in June of this year. On her road to healing, she has taken on the role of advocacy to bring awareness to the condition that she and many others battle. Today, she was presented with a proclamation from Governor Jeff Landry declaring October 9 PANS/PANDAS awareness day in Louisiana.

    Hello –

I am a mother outside of New Orleans and I would like to help in anyway I can. My son is currently being treated by a Neurologist outside of Houston, TX. Took 5 years to get a proper diagnoses. We still have a long road ahead of us.
