My Head is Not My Own
written by Libby, age 13
my head is not my own
and i feel so alone
i think that i am losing it
i’m being broken bit by bit
overwhelmed by thoughts
i wish that they would stop
circling in my head
while i lay in bed
i miss my only friend
i wish that this would end
i’m reaching out for compassion
but all people want is action
i swear that i am screaming
but i guess that’s not what they’re seeing
everything is loud
i feel lonely in a crowd
my OCD surrounds me
it will not let me be
it takes over my life
it fills me with strife
colors and numbers
plus all of the wonders
they hold me captive
and they stay active
it’s all i think about
there is no way out
why is everything spinning
i think i may be drifting
drifting away from reality
held in my mentality
how much longer can i do this
it’s hard to get through this
my thoughts and my tears
gathered from years
they all consume me
they all pulse through me
everything is bad
it makes me very sad
no one understands
there’s no way they can
trapped inside my head
jealous of the dead
my head is not my own
and i feel so alone.
