We’re all better people because Mick is in our family. I’ve seen my other son choose his friends based on how they treated his brother. My wife and I have become advocates and helped when we can with a nonprofit. But we’ve all been tested over and over. Everyone is needy, and when you have a special needs child, it’s hard to give everyone the attention they deserve. I wish I could give my other two children more one on one time and more focus. I wish my wife and I were able to focus on each other. But when we are in crisis mode all the time, there is not much time left. We are either fighting for insurance coverage or advocating for more help at school in our free time. Most of our days are focused on therapy, medical treatments, and dealing with our son’s debilitating symptoms. Our entire family’s lives revolved around Mick.
