Autoimmune Neuropsychiatric Disorders – PANS/PANDAS

This is an educational video about the autoimmune neuropsychiatric disorders, PANS and PANDAS. PANS, Pediatric Acute-onset Neuropsychiatric Syndrome and PANDAS, Pediatric Autoimmune Neuropsychiatric Disorder Associated with Streptococcal infection can be triggered by everyday infections including strep, mycoplasma pneumonia, influenza, herpes simplex and Lyme disease. Infection-induced autoimmune neuropsychiatric conditions are treatable with the proper diagnosis and medical care. Many children and adolescents with these conditions are misdiagnosed as having a psychiatric illness, when the true cause of the symptoms is due to an autoimmune dysfunction.
